Welcome to the 2017 WorkReady online application. From here you can enter a new application, revise an existing application, and check the status of an application you have already submitted.
In order to complete this application, you will need several pieces of information including your social security number, student ID number (if you have one), your work permit number (if you have one) and your Selective Service registration number (if applicable).
This application will take you approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. At any time during the process, you can save your information to complete later. The status bar at the bottom of the page shows you how many sections are remaining in the application and how much you have completed.
All correspondence regarding WorkReady programs will come through the email address attached to your log-in. Please make sure to check this email regularly for important updates and information.
Please be aware of the following information related to the WorkReady system:
- Positions may be assigned to applicants on a random basis and completing an application is no guarantee of being offered a position.
- Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) is working with researchers at the University of Pennsylvania to measure how the WorkReady program helps youth in the future. To do this, the researchers may access applicants' school, health, crime, and job records to see how youth are doing after the summer. All information that identifies a particular person (like his or her name) will be removed before researchers use the data, so the records will not show who anyone is. No individual records will ever be shared with PYN, program providers, employers, or the public. Youth do not need to be part of the study to get a WorkReady position. Our contact information is below if you wish to opt out.
- On July 1, 2015, Governor Tom Wolf signed into law Act 15 (House Bill 1276) which amends Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) to clarify the requirements of employers to provide for criminal background checks and child abuse clearances of their employees who work directly with children. As a result if this new legislation, some youth participating in WorkReady will be required to complete an FBI background check, Child Abuse clearance and a Pennsylvania State criminal background check. PYN will cover the costs of all these clearances and youth will receive instructions to complete the process during the enrollment phase of the WorkReady application process.
- PYN also manages a menu of programs and services in addition to the WorkReady summer system. Eligible participants may be contacted at a later date to gauge interest in participating on other city-wide opportunities.
